Is it really fall?

Summer blogging = big-fat fail.  

Can you believe it's Autumn already.  It's been cool and rainy here the past few days.  The perfect weather to indulge in a bowl of hot chili, put on your comfiest sweater, and snuggle up on the couch with the ones you love.

Our calendar is already filling up with fun, fall activites...and I plan on getting back into the swing of things and posting our adventures.  Stay tuned! (Mom, I promise I'll have a real post by the end of the week....yes, photos too)  :P

3 Day, here I come!

According to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, more than 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease.  I am sure we all know someone who has breast cancer or has died from this disease.  A year and a half ago, we lost our aunt because of breast cancer.  Since then, I have had three women dear to me experience a breast cancer “scare”.  I don’t want to live in fear anymore. 

This year, along with my sister Emily and a friend from church, I'll be participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day.  I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men.  The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

"I Can Dooo Tis"

Today, as we reached the end of our 2 mile hike through the woods, Asher was determined to climb the steep hill.  "I can doo tis", he said to himself over and over.  There is nothing like a little self motivation to get you on your way.  

  

The definition of lovely.

Aiden and I were listing all the things we loved about our family and friends.  When it came time to talk about Grandma Smith (my mom) he said:

"I love Grandma Smith because she is fun and lovely."  *whispering* "Lovely means that she is really, really, really, really beautiful."

She is.

 

Who said drama was reserved for girls?

As I was getting Aiden dressed this morning I began to get frustrated over his lack of interest in the task at hand.  Like any four year old, he was dancing around, putting his underwear on his head, and making silly impressions of animals, people, and the like.  I let out an aggravated sigh and shouted "Come on, Aiden".  In which he replied:

"I just need to focus on my acting"...With his hands raised as if to imply, duh mom, you know how important this is to me.

Seriously, where does he get this stuff???      

And so it begins...

Aiden:  Mommy, how did I get out of your belly?

Me:  The doctors took you out.

Aiden:  But how did they take me out?

Me:  Uhhhhhhhh...  *with a blank stare 

Aiden:  Did they crack open your belly?  Like and egg?

Me:  Aiden, do you want to read a book?

Aiden:  Yeah!  Can we do the I Spy book together, Mommy?

Whew!  Crisis diverted.  So, who thinks I'll be sweating bullets again in the near future???

My baby is 2.

It's hard to believe two years have past.  I remember being utterly exhausted one night at 3am when Asher was a newborn.  I told myself then that when Aiden was four and Asher was two things would be so much easier.  It seemed light-years away.  Now, here we are.  And I don't know what I was thinking...I mean, I did have a two year old at the time.  And two is not easy, lol, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Happy Birthday, Buddy.  We love you.

Turkey Breath

I just told Aiden that his breath smelled like turkey.  His response?  "Thank you!  You like my smell...should I keep my breath smelling like this all day?"

Only in a child's mind would that be a compliment.  Isn't it wonderful?!?!

I know I've been posting a lot of "Aiden Speak" lately, but when you talk to a four year old all day there isn't much else to say.  :)

  

What Dreams May Come

Aiden stumbled into our bedroom this morning and plopped right down in the center of the bed.  

Aiden:  I am tired, will you cuddle me a little longer, mommy?

Me:  If you're tired, go back to bed, sweetheart.

Aiden: Will you just cuddle me...please.

Me:  What's wrong?

Aiden:  It's just the dreams flying out of my head...I had so many.

Me:  *giggling* Oh, yeah...what did you dream about?

Aiden:  Fixing robots, petting dogs and making dogs lay down, and ummm...putting pine cones on the trees.  I had like five dreams!  They just kept flying out of my head.

Now that's a great way to wake up in the morning, well...that and having Asher scream:  "Wake up, mommy.  Wake up, mommy.  Mommy, MO-MMY...talk oo me, mommy".
